December 2011

Dear Friend of the Aspen Hall of Fame,

It is with great pleasure that the Board of Directors of the Aspen Hall of Fame announces our inductees for 2012. John Keleher and Tony Vagneur will be inducted at the annual banquet on Saturday evening, January 21, 2012, at the Hotel Jerome. Please mark your calendar. Invitations will be mailed in late December.

As expected, there were many worthy nominees put forth for induction, virtually all of whom would be fine selections (the future of the Hall of Fame is bright!). In honoring John and Tony, the Board is pleased to single out these two men for their ongoing contributions to the vitality and fabric of our community “above and beyond the call” of ordinary citizenship. We all look forward to hearing more about their respective exploits and adventures in live stories, embarrassing tributes and archival videos at the annual banquet.

Also on the agenda will be the introduction of the first inductee into our “Pioneer” category. This new category was created to give us a mechanism for honoring important and influential Aspenites from before the current modern era of the Hall of Fame. In the inaugural year the Hall of Fame Board has chosen early entrepreneur and Aspen patron Jerome B. Wheeler, the namesake and builder of both the Wheeler Opera House and the Hotel Jerome. Mr. Wheeler was a key historical figure in Aspen’s early days. We will hear more about him at the banquet.

The annual Aspen Hall of Fame Banquet is truly a local event. We make every effort to keep the event affordable so that all members of our community have the opportunity to participate. The Board is happy to report that the cost of attending the banquet will remain the same as in recent years (cost and details with the invitations), without increases.

Nonetheless, we do incur expenses not directly supported by banquet tickets such as the archival videos, physical awards, mailings, et cetera. The generous donations we receive help bridge those gaps. If you are able to support the Aspen Hall of Fame with a donation of any size you will be supporting Aspen’s rich and ongoing history. As a nonprofit organization, we are dependent on these gifts and greatly appreciate your support.

Thank you for your continued support of the Aspen Hall of Fame and for any gift you are able to send along.
Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
Aspen Hall of Fame
